"Very friendly people, great for a few days, very lively atmosphere, plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from."
Review by a visitor from UK who visited the city in August 2006 as a couple without children.

The best part:
Enjoying the traditional Irish cuisine, the lively atmosphere where walking around the City. The Temple Bar area has a very buzzy feel at night with so many bars and clubs to choose from.

The worst part:
I thought the attractions were pricey, especially the Book of Kells - only could see a small selection of old books.

The best attraction:
Guinness Storehouse

The worst attraction:
Book of Kells

The best restaurant:
Trumans Restaurant

The worst restaurant:

Stayed at the Georgian House Hotel
The service of this hotel was excellent, friendly staff who could not do enough for you. Great location. The only criticism is that the hotel is on a busy road and there are roadworks going on when I was there in August. So double-glazed windows would solve the problem. On the whole the hotel's decor needs freshening up, plaster on the ceilings and walls needs smoothing out. The hotel was clean. The food is excellent.

Stayed at the Ariel House
It surprized us that the hotel was only down the block from the Lansdowne Rugby Stadium, and that we could see the end-zone fans from our bedroom window. Our proximity to the stadium (we arrived the night of an Ireland-Italy match) and the commuter train that regularly passed by made me wish I had chosen another hotel for our stay. Nonetheless, the rooms were lovely and the service very personable and efficient.

"It was good, but expensive."
Review by Robert Bennett from UK who visited the city in July 2005 as a single leisure traveller.

The best part:
This is the second time i have been to dublin in the last couple of years, true to form we had a great time, we stayed in the ibis hotel on parnell street and spent most of our time around temple bar. The people are friendly as they always are, a good mixture of culture. Seems to have had massive influx of immigrants from both Africa and Eastern Europeans.

The worst part:
The only downside about dublin is that the pubs and bars seem to have cracked onto tourism and raised all the prices, remembering the old currancy of punts, it was no where near as dear as it is now. It works otu cheaper to go somewhere hot, ie malaga, palmanove on cheap flights as it wouls spending money in dublin. We spent £300 in a weekend on average which is to much for two days.

"very good"
Review by Perry from Elko, Nevada who visited the city in July 2005 as a couple without children.

The best part:
The bustling activity downtown, visiting Trinity University, riding the bus around, and we attended the performance of Riverdance at the theatre one evening. Learning about the history of Ireland was particulary interesting when we visited the various museums.

The worst part:
Traveling downtown at 11:30 Pm to go to a Harry Potter book opening at a downtown bookstore for the new book at seeing some of the drunken tourists urinating on the sidewalk

The best attraction:
The National Museum

"Good"
Review by a visitor from PA, USA who visited the city in June 2005 as a couple without children.

The best part:
Dublin Castle, the Charles Beatty Museum, the parks, Grafton Street, St. Patrick Cathedral.

The worst part:
We were disappointed with the dirtiness of the city. Since there is no smoking inside, the smokers and their butts were outside. We were disgusted with the pub scene. Scores of people walking down O'Connell Street to cross the Liffey were dressed in rude and sexually suggestive ways. It seemed that all people wanted to do was to get drunk and laid. Not much interest was shown in music or talk.

The best attraction:
Charles Beatty Museum is a gem

The worst attraction:
Temple Bar area.

The best restaurant:
Yamamori Noodles

The best cafe:
Nude and Soup Dragon

The best part:

Four star hotel shouldn't have crooked pictures on the wall and curtains that are off track so they won't close. These things should be checked and checked again before guest come into the room. Otherwise it was very nice.

"We had a great time and got a taste of a larger city in Ireland."
Review by Nancy from USA who visited the city in March 2005 with a family group.

The best part:
We had The Arlington Hotel in a great location next to the Liffey that had a Irish dancing show for free right in the bar in the evening. Riding the City Tour Hop on-Hop off bus around Dublin was a great way to see the city if you're not up to walking.

The worst part:
Trying to navigate the city streets in our rental car. Being from the U.S., it was a little overwhelming learning how to drive a car there and navigate the streets. We found our hotel and left our car there until we moved on to the rest of our trip which worked out fine.

The best attraction:
The Arlington Hotel's Irish dancing show

The worst attraction:
Didn't see anything that we thought was the worst

The best restaurant:
Oliver St. John Gogarty on Fleet Street

The worst restaurant:
We didn't have a bad experience

The best cafe:

It's not ritzy, but it was clean, friendly and had a helpful staff. It's in a great location on the north side of the Liffey right off O'Connell street. Within easy walking distance to the action on the south side of the Liffey. Parking on site so we were able to leave our car there until we left the city. Couldn't have been better.
