The White Cliffs Colliery Line closed after a miners strike in 1984 and in 1985 the East Kent Railway Trust was formed to preserve the main section of train line between Shepherdswell and Tilmanstone.
Today, visitors can take the 4 mile round trip from Shepherdswell to Eythorne. In Shepherdswell a replica of the original station building and platform has been built. There is a miniature gauge railway (only open on some Sundays) for children and also a small museum where you can see how the East Kent Railway looked when it was fully operational. The site is located in the woods and there is seating and tables for people to have picnics. Facilities include toilets and a car park.
