Built in 1892, Avenida Palace is the grandest old-fashioned hotel in Lisbon, an antiques-filled link to the past. Its location right at the Rossio is terribly convenient and terribly noisy, but once inside it is another world entirely. It underwent a massive overhaul in the late 1990s. Still the grand dame of Lisbon hotels, it retains its 19th-century aura and elegance, with a marble staircase, beautiful salons, and silk brocades. The Belle Epoque-style Palace offers all the modern comforts, especially in its restored guest rooms. They're soundproofed and elegantly furnished, often in the 17th- or 18th-century style. The marble bathrooms come equipped with shower-tub combinations.
This 19th-century building overlooks Restauradores Square and offers views of St. George's Castle in central Lisbon. It features classic rooms and free valet parking. Avenida Palace enjoys a popular location at the end of Avenida da Liberdade. The metro station and Eduardo VII Park are a short walk away. Rooms at Avenida have antique-style furnishings and marble bathrooms. They are fully air-conditioned and have satellite TV. Wi-Fi access is available. A large buffet breakfast is served daily in Avenida's grand Palace Lounge. There is also a separate smoker's lounge and a library of books in many languages. Daily newspapers are available upon request. Avenida Palace's 5th-floor gym offers modern fitness facilities. Guests can also choose from a variety of massage services.
